Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes. But not exactly... We saw an opportunity to offer a private dining experience to our Cheever Tavern customers in the space above the tavern. The very old, solid brick building Cheever occupies, however, dictates how the two relate to one another. With no interior access between the spaces, you will find the entrance to the Blue Room at it’s own address at 690 Main Street. We provide valet parking for our event guests there.

Never fear though. You’ll recognize many similarities to the restaurant, especially our staff. The team we love and trust work either in the tavern or in the Blue Room, depending on the day. We like to say the Blue Room is everything you love about Cheever Tavern, but it’s all for you.

  • DEPOSIT/CONTRACT: A $1,000 Deposit, along with a signed contract, are required to secure the date and time of your event. The deposit counts towards the minimum and will be applied to your final invoice. Full payment is due at the completion of your event.

MINIMUM: There is a $2,000 Food and Beverage Minimum which can be met through any combination of food and beverage purchases. If your total bill falls short of this amount, the remainder will be added to your final invoice.

FEES: A $500 Room Fee, plus a 20% Gratuity* for the service staff, a 7% Administrative Fee**, and 7% Local Tax will be added to your final invoice.

*Gratuity is based on your food and beverage purchases.

**The administrative fee does not represent a tip or service charge paid directly to employees, but is a charge to cover our operational costs.

All quotes are based on a guaranteed three hour event. Additional event time (and/or setup time) will be billed at $200 per hour.

  • To ensure our culinary and service teams can successfully prepare for your gathering, a final guest count is due 10 days before the event. If the number of guests is lower than the contracted guest count, you will be charged for the contracted guest count.

Menu, beverage choices, and/or fixed-entrée counts, along with seating charts, are also due 10 days before the event.

  • All beverages are based on consumption. We offer different tiers of service and price points to fit every event. Please see Blue Room Event Bar Service for a helpful explanation of how our bar service is organized.

Alcohol is not allowed to be brought on or off premises.

  • Parking in Norwell Center is tight. We take that stress away by contracting with a professional valet service. This doesn’t require an additional fee, but rather it’s included with the room. Tipping isn’t required, though it is appreciated!

Guests should set GPS to 690 Main Street, Norwell. Valet is available from 30 minutes prior to the event, until 15 minutes after. Parking is not permitted in the lower Cheever Tavern parking lot.

  • We are thrilled that you would like to know more about the Blue Room. Please fill out our online inquiry form with as much information as possible about your plans. • Three very distinct pieces of art help to create the feeling people get when they enter the Blue Room. Often, people first notice the most familiar of them, Vincent Van Gogh’s “Almond Blossom.” This covers our entire back wall (and cleverly doubles as sound proofing to help with room acoustics). Next, local artist Christine Bodnar painted the piece above our mantle. Called “A Secret Note,” it recalls the North River which meanders through Norwell. And finally, there’s the wall mural in our Blue Room Bar by Mark Grundig. Living in New England, some of your best moments were likely spent near the ocean. Mark’s work beckons you to create some more.

Located in the heart of Norwell Center at 690 Main Street, the Blue Room is a perfect choice for seamless, intimate, and elegant celebrations and business functions for under 45 guests.

For smaller groups of 15 to 20 guests, we also offer the option to reserve multiple tables in our restaurant dining room. This is a non-private option, perfect for more casual gatherings or those looking for a more budget-conscious alternative. Please inquire about availability.
